Once distilled, the whisky is aged for a minimum of three years in various types of casks, including first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, refill ex-bourbon barrels, refill hogshead casks and rejuvenated casks, which are casks that are stripped on the interior and re-charred before use.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nThe whisky has a pale, golden color and an aroma of fudge, almonds, vanilla and dried mango. The palate is light and refreshing, with notes of toasted oak, butterscotch, banana and toffee, and leads to a finish marked by shortbread cookies and baking spices.\u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\r\nBottled at 80 proof, Haig Club Single Grain Whisky represents a unique new way of approaching single grain whisky, and counts David Beckham and Simon Fuller as its ambassadors. A firm believer in progress, John Haig installed at the distillery what at the time was almost unheard-of technology: continuous column stills that set out his vision for quality blends through innovation, new technology and creativity. Cameronbridge became the first distillery to produce grain whisky using the column still method invented by John's cousin Robert Stein, laying the foundations for the growth and success of the modern Scotch Whisky industry. In 1865, John and eight other grain distillers formed an alliance, and in 1877 Distillers Company Limited (DCL) was formally established. Through time DCL evolved into Diageo, the world's largest spirits company. \u003cbr\u003e\n\u003cbr\u003e\nToday, Cameronbridge is the largest grain distillery in Europe and Diageo’s only wholly-owned grain plant. Staying true to its 200 years of distilling tradition to sit at the very forefront of technical expertise and skill, the distillery takes a 21st Century approach to distilling. Cameronbridge recycles all the by-products from the distillation process (grain water and yeast) to produce enough power to run itself.
