About Big Peat Christmas 2015 Blended Malt Scotch Whisky
The historic Lowlands distillery Bladnoch has had its fair share of ups and downs and was purchased in 2015 by Australian entrepreneur David Prior. Whisky production resumed soon after with 3 expressions released to celebrate the occasion: the Samsara, Talia, and Adela. The latter is a 15-year-old Lowland single malt that was matured in oloroso sherry casks before being bottled at 93.4 proof without chill-filtration and added coloring. "Adela" is Latin for "rich and noble" ― a fitting description for a single malt of considerable depth. The whisky has since won several awards, including the coveted Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and a Silver Medal at the Scotch Whisky Masters, both in 2017.Get your bottle of this 15-year-old Lowland single malt today!
About Scotch
Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)
Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.
