Don Alfonso Jiménez Rosales branched out in 1950 and founded Caballito Cerrero, a storied tequila brand with a vibrant history. After a family feud, Alfonso set out to create his unique take on tequila, defying convention and carving his own path in the industry. The CRT board (regulatory board of tequila) made it slightly challenging for El Caballito to flourish, and this challenge proved to be a unique opportunity for the distillery. They decided to go against the grain and make their spirits from the agave chato plant, a relative of espadín that used to be a staple in tequila production before the blue agave was designated as the set standard. Therefore, Caballito Cerrero Blanco 46 Chato Agave Spirit is made with agave chato, resulting in a vegetal, sweet, peppery aroma and more earthy taste than your average blue weber agave tequila. Caballito Cerrero Blanco 46 Chato Agave Spirit takes you back to the times when things were less complicated. It is a twice-distilled spirit, bottled at 92 proof and made to be enjoyed on a hot summer’s night on its own or over some ice.
