About Diplomático Planas Rum
Diplomático Planas takes its name from the Planas region, which spreads out around the distillery. Situated at the foot of the Andes, the land is encircled by sugar processing plants and the picturesque Terepaima National Park, supplying the local producers with brisk natural water. The area’s micro-climate works in favor of the complex, tropically inclined profile of the rum, importantly affecting the quality of its smoothness as well. By combining modern and traditional distillation methods, this white rum is produced out of fermented, top-grade sugar cane molasses and sugar cane honey and subsequently distilled in a combination of column, pot, and batch kettle stills. Some people say that rum has no laws, but that is far from the truth. Venezuelans have strict regulations prohibiting the producers from bottling their rum if it hasn’t aged for at least two years. Diplomático takes this commandment seriously, aging the distillate for six years in ex-bourbon casks - not exactly a common practice when it comes to white rums. The blend is then charcoal-filtered up to six times to ensure the necessary color and richness of texture. Bottled at 47% ABV, the fruity and creamy flavors of Planas Rum can be enjoyed neat or as the star ingredient in classic white rum cocktails like Daiquiris, Mojitos, and Piña Coladas.

About Diplomático
Distilled from sugarcane and aged for up to twelve years, the history of Ron Diplomático Reserva Exclusiva can be traced back to the 19th century when Don Juancho Nieto Melendez, a legendary figure in the history of Venezuela, began distilling rum near Hacienda Botucal.About Rum
Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.
We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.
