About Glengoyne The Legacy Series Chapter Three 2022 Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Good things take time. And so does the production of a legendary Scotch Whisky. At Glengoyne Distillery, they believe just that—time is of the essence, and nothing should be rushed. Founded in 1833 by George Connel, this traditional distillery air-dries their barley and boasts that they have ‘the slowest stills’ in Scotland. Cue in Glengoyne The Legacy Series Chapter Three 2022 Single Malt Scotch Whisky—a refined spirit bottled using only the finest American oak sherry casks, which impart aromas of bramble jam, cinnamon, and apple strudel followed by notes of tarte tatin, dark chocolate, and peppery spice. The creation of this legendary Scotch was sparked by Sir Arthur John Tedder, an Exciseman with a stable position at Glengoyne who helped polish the rules on Scotch Whisky. Clocking in a 48% ABV, this elegant spirit was matured in hand-picked refill sherry and bourbon casks, which showcase attention to detail and exacting standards, all Sir Arthur would have wished for today.

About Glengoyne

Situated in a wooded valley in the Highlands region of Scotland, Glengoyne Distillery was founded by George Campbell and has been producing single malt whisky continuously since 1833. The distillery, which takes its name from "Glen Guin" or Glen of the Wild Geese, is situated directly atop the Highlands Line — the line that divides the Highlands and Lowlands regions of Scotland. As a result, while Glengoyne Single Malt Scotch Whisky is distilled in the Highlands region, it is matured in the Lowlands region, despite the fact that the distillery's stillhouse and maturation warehouses are across the street from each other.

About Scotch

Scotch is the most popular whisky in the world and is considered the king of them all! There are five whisky regions in Scotland (six if you count the not officially recognized Islands), and each of them produces spirits with unique properties and distinct tasting notes. (The type of grain used determents the type of the scotch.)

Malt whisky is made of malted barley, and grain whisky uses other grains like corn or wheat. Most of the time, a whisky is blended from different distilleries hence the name blended scotch, but if a malt whisky is produced in a single distillery, we get something extraordinary called a single malt.
