PINHOOK TRUE 9 YEAR OLD SINGLE BARREL BOURBON S3B23
PINHOOK TRUE 9 YEAR OLD SINGLE BARREL BOURBON S3B23

The standard approach to American whiskey uses blending and a fixed proof to replicate an established flavor profile batch after batch. Breaking with this tradition, Pinhook treats each set of barrels as a new vintage, shaped by the natural variations in the ingredients and the elements. Working in small batches, they craft each vintage to express the best whiskey rather than the same whiskey and set the proof to optimize the unique attributes of that group of barrels.

Likewise, the True Single Barrel Vertical Series makes distinctive and unique barrels available on a highly allocated basis. This 9-Year Bourbon is the sixth of nine vintages in the True Single Barrel Vertical Series, which follows a group of barrels aged from 4 to 12 years, and is a continuation of ReserveBar single barrel selections, which started with the NYWSC Double Gold award-winning Pinhook 8YO release. We have no doubt you will enjoy this pour just as much as the last.

From Lee Diaz, Topflight Series Panel Member:

If you haven't been following the growth of Pinhook, now is the time. By focusing on "vintages" every year—similar to what you more frequently see in wine—Master Blender Sean Josephs has used his experience as a restaurateur and bar owner to develop truly compelling flavors for each Pinhook release. This is especially true with their True Single Barrel Vertical Series, a program that fully embraces the concept of vintages in bourbon by tracking the evolution of a group of barrels as they age from 4 to 12 years (and hopefully beyond). Now in its 6th Vintage release at 9 years old, we were able to gain access to a stunning barrel within this year’s highly limited allocation.

Looking back for a moment, our 8-year-old release in 2024 was an incredible pour—so much so that we submitted it to the New York World Spirits Competition, where it won Double Gold. This made us even more excited for the 9YO release, and it did not disappoint. It’s just a touch higher in proof than the last and offers a distinctive tasting experience if you want to sip the 8YO and 9YO side by side. In this pour, the nose reveals scents of butterscotch, candied cherry, marzipan, honey, and florals. This leads into flavors of crème brûlée, graham cracker, chocolate, roasted cashews, and cola. The finish evolves into dark chocolate, coconut, marshmallow, stone fruit, toasted oak, and tobacco. It’s refined, surprising, and lingers perfectly between every sip.

TOPFLIGHT: Series 3, Barrel No. 23

PROOF: 114.9

AGE: 9 Years, 1 Month

MASHBILL: 75% Corn, 20.5% Rye, 4.5% Malted Barley

FINISHING BARREL: New American Oak

CHAR / TOAST: Charred New American White Oak

WAREHOUSE LOCATION: Distilled in Lawrenceburg, IN.
