About Ron Barceló
In 1929, Julián Barceló emigrated from Spain to Santo Domingo, founding Barceló & Co. in 1950, Barceló Blanco and Dorado gold Rum initiated the success of Ron Barceló brand, and the label has been growing rapidly ever since. Ron Barceló distills their rum from 100% Dominican sugar cane juice. It is finished for two years in French oak, in a horizontal fashion in the rickhouses, compared to Barceló's traditional maturation process utilizing bourbon barrels, aged in a vertical fashion.About Rum
Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.
We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.
