Watch a tasting of Sherry! In this tasting we learn about the one place in the world that Sherry wine comes from and how this region’s soil and unique seasonal changes give a distinct and unsurpassable character to its wines. We also discuss how the production process—not really the grape—determines the types and style of Sherry. Wine.com host and Certified Sherry Wine Specialist Gwendolyn Osborn leads this special tasting with top Sherry producers as we taste the González Byass Tio Pepe Fino Sherry, Lustau Solera Los Arcos Dry Amontillado Sherry, and Osborne Medium Sherry.

Watch the tasting here.

Guests include:

  • Vicky González-Gordon, 5th Generation and Head of Marketing, González Byass
  • José Antonio Martínez-Caballero, 6th Generation of The Caballero Family and Owner of Lustau, Lustau
  • Valeria Morado, Director of Communications and Public Relations, Osborne
  • Hosted by: Gwendolyn Osborn, Wine Educator and Certified Sherry Wine Specialist, Wine.com

Tasting Set Includes:

  • González Byass Tio Pepe Fino Sherry
Both pale yellow and bone-dry, this biologically-aged sherry displays notes of olive brine, peat, and crushed salt. The mid-palate opens to smoked marcona almonds, wrapped together in a veil of salinity.
  • Lustau Solera Los Arcos Dry Amontillado Sherry
This dry Amontillado acquires a genuine, rich and nutty flavor through years of aging. Amber in color, with hazelnut aromas on the nose. Light, soft and round on the palate, with a long aftertaste. Aged in American oak casks in the traditional “Solera y Criaderas” system in the Lustau bodegas in Jerez de la Frontera. A better Amontillado would be difficult to find. Serve slightly chilled, between 13-14ºC, (55–57º F) in a white wine glass as an aperitif with nuts or cheese or accompanying soups, mushroom dishes, artichokes, green asparagus or risottos.
  • Osborne Medium Sherry
Lovely and luminous amber color with green highlights at the rim. Elegant and expansive nose, with a remarkable nutty character mingled with subtle caramel nuances, integrated oak notes in a medium-dry full and voluptuous wine. Superb as an aperitif or following a good meal. Also pairs delightfully with soups, white meat, blue fish and cured cheeses or try it on the rocks with an orange slice.
